[[Ayurveda]] has described the criteria for prognosis of patients. Charaka Samhita presents a separate section on the prognosis of the patients and specific signs and symptoms observed in the critical patients (arishta), indicating certain death in the near future. In such patients, a complete cure is not possible. But even in these patients, it is observed that the life span can be extended for some time with Ayurvedic emergency medicines. If such signs and symptoms(Arishta), are not observed, the patient can survive for a longer period. | [[Ayurveda]] has described the criteria for prognosis of patients.
