Vipaka plays significant role in pharmacotherapy used in [[Ayurveda]]. It is explained that substances work according to the potential of their vipaka. Though, ginger ([[shunthi]]) is pungent in taste, it does not vitiate [[pitta dosha]] due to its madhura vipaka.
