1. Structural component (poshyameda dhatu): It is the form,that is stored in the layer of meda(medodhara kala). It is also called fixed or stored fat(baddhamedas). This portion is located mainly in the omentum.This form is responsible for the nutrition of meda dhatu itself in case of starvation.

This provides lubrication and unctuousness wherever needed. This form is vitiated in the pathogenesis of obstinate urinary disorders including diabetes (prameha) [Cha.Sa.[[Nidana Sthana]] 4/7]
