It was noted that men who had taken bath in 15 degree Celcius water for one-half hour over nine consecutive days before a trip to the Arctic showed less signs of cold-induced stress than non-treated men. It indicates that adaptation to cold temperatures can occur through repeated exposures. <ref> Radomski MW, Boutelier C. From [https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/seasons/en/ what causes the seasons]  to [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25965853/%20-%20Widespread%20seasonal%20gene%20expression%20reveals%20annual%20differences%20in%20human%20immunity%20and%20physiology how the seasons influence the expression of genes and in turn important disease-generating processes like inflammation] and how the knowledge offered in [[Charak Samhita]] needs to be refreshed. How this can be refined and made contemporary where possible.  For instance, how such important pointers from the samhita can be easily reinterpreted to make this knowledge valid for the two hemispheres of the earth and then to the different latitudes away from the equator.  Such matter and the details which must be common knowledge continues to confuse young students of Ayurveda not just in India but around the world.
