In recent studies the sitz bath is advised with warm water in all kind of hemorrhoids or ano-rectal disorders. Charaka mentioned sitz bath with warm and cold water. The warm water should be used in cases of ''vataja'' and ''kaphaja'' type of hemorrhoids while cold water sitz bath should be given in cases of ''pittaja'' or ''rakataja'' predominant hemorrhoids.
