Mamsa literally means meat or flesh. Mamsa dhatu is a body component similar to flesh and muscular tissue. Its important function is lepana (to cover body). It provides covering above the skeleton.(SAT-B.433) As the name suggests, it is a bulky tissue and denotes status of nutrition. Due to its solid state, it provides proper size, shape and dimension to body.
